How do I use my calculator and radio to detect metal?
1. Adjust the radio to the highest frequency band on the AM setting. Make sure you are not tuned to the radio. You should hear silence silently and steadily. This will allow you to hear any difference in tone when your device detects a metal object.
2. Assemble the search head. Open your calculator. Next, place the two devices back to back until a steady, dim tone is emitted. You may have to arrange the device at a specific angle or distance to achieve this tone.
3. Paste the device into the location. Once the calculator and radio produce the correct tones, you need to paste them in that location. If the distance is too clumsy to stick the devices together, install them on the board. This will keep your search heads sturdy and functioning when you search for metal.
4. Connect the search head to the axis. An old broom handle or similar rod will be the appropriate shaft. Use tape as a quick and secure method of mounting the shaft. Alternatively, you can use a zip to secure the two parts together. Use the method that works best for the shape of the search head.
5. Test some metal detectors on household metals. First, prove the working principle of the metal detector by placing a spoon on the table. Run the detector on the spoon and listen to the detector beeping or making a new sound (unlike the stable tone it produces). Now you can take it outdoors or around to find other metal objects.
Turn your smartphone into a metal detector. Download the metal detector app. Smartphones are electronic devices, so they generate magnetic fields. Developed applications allow you to use the phone's own magnetic field to detect metal objects. Go to the respective app store (this is different between platforms) and download the metal detector app.
