New Concept Of Printing Machine Maintenance

- Sep 08, 2020-

The development of the printing industry has gradually changed from a relatively simple type of letterpress printing to the commonly used offset printing and the increasingly robust digital printing mode. The belief behind this development model is of course based on manufacturers’ demands for continuous improvement of production efficiency and enhancement of product competitiveness and quality in the market.

Therefore, printing and other processing machinery and equipment of various practical manufacturers' production indicators are constantly emerging in the market at a rapid pace, cooperating with and exceeding the expectations of manufacturers. However, when these advanced machinery are moving towards production goals day and night, many operational related "small problems" will also arise, such as maintenance.

When the machine is damaged, the manufacturer generally thinks it is caused by normal operation wear. However, today's machinery is made of high-quality alloy steel and should be able to be used for a long time. After that, after paying huge maintenance fees and the painful lessons of delaying production, manufacturers gradually began to discover the important role played by maintenance material teams in maintaining the normal operation of printing machinery. Among the many maintenance materials, lubricants and their Related chemical products are relatively neglected. Perhaps because of the correct selection of these materials, it will not cause immediate bad effects on the finished products produced by the manufacturer. Mechanical equipment is often used for a long period of time before it is found to have problems.

Therefore, suppliers who provide these maintenance materials should:
1. Its products can reduce the number of mechanical damages and extend the service life of the machinery;
2. Provide a multi-functional design product line, in addition to adapting to more mechanical requirements, it can also reduce unnecessary excess inventory of customers;
3. Teach customers to avoid incorrect use of maintenance materials;
4. To enable customers to simplify purchasing procedures, thereby streamlining management procedures and saving valuable human resources;
5. Frequently maintain sufficient product inventory to save manufacturers the time spent ordering goods and avoid the risk of downtime caused by casual use of general "temporary substitutes";
6. Provide a long-term and stable supply channel through a reputable supplier network to meet the needs of customers from all over the world for quality products and services.

Maintenance materials for printing presses and related equipment include:
Lubricating oil-such as snow oil, chain tooth oil, pressure gear box oil, etc.
Cleaner—such as post cleaner, ink roller cleaner, oil pipe and oil line cleaner, etc.
Anti-rust agent—used to prevent rust and lubricate the table top of the paper cutter and the cutter.

Characteristics and uses of grease
In this issue, I will introduce "grease" (snow oil). The type of grease can be roughly classified according to its hardness, pressure feedability, dripping point, water resistance and stability.

hardness
Hardness, or penetration, is a measurable characteristic that must be considered when selecting an appropriate grease. The hardness of the grease is determined by the number. No. 0 is the softest, and then increases with No. 1 and No. 2 to No. 6. The hardness of No. 6 is the same as that of soap bars. The mud in the garden is easier to shovel and harder, and the hardness of the grease is the same. It is graded according to the penetration depth of the grease dropped from a certain height by the cone gauge. Printing machinery must add lubricating grease with appropriate hardness in accordance with the requirements of the printing press manufacturer, otherwise it may cause insufficient lubrication or increased resistance to the machine parts.

Pressure delivery
Another feature of grease is the difficulty of pressure delivery; in the central grease supply system, two types of grease that are equally easy to pressure delivery at room temperature, the pressure delivery performance is often very large in a lower temperature environment different.

The difference comes from the different types and proportions of lubricating oil and soap contained in the grease. Some printing machinery and binding equipment use a central grease supply system to lubricate each component of the machinery, so it is extremely important to choose a grease with excellent pressure feedability.

Drop point
Because the grease contains different soap relationships, different greases will melt at different temperatures. The dripping point is the temperature at which the grease changes from semi-solid to liquid; most calcium soap grease melts at 160-210°F, sodium soap grease is 350-350°F, lithium soap grease is 350-400°F, so high temperature It is better to use sodium soap or lithium soap. Nowadays, the speed of most printing machines is quite high. Because the rotation speed of the motor bearing is higher, the bearing temperature increases accordingly. Choosing a grease with a higher drop point can make high-speed motor bearings such as "carbon pumps". "Bearings are better protected.

Water resistance
Regardless of whether it is in contact with water or not, some greases still need to perform their lubricating effect, so its water resistance is an important property. Calcium soap and lithium soap grease are insoluble in water, while sodium soap grease is soluble in water, so it cannot be used as a lubricant that may come into contact with water. The printing process needs to mix water, so some bearings must be protected by grease with good water resistance, otherwise, the service life of the bearing will be greatly reduced.

stability
Some greases can still maintain their original hardness after being added to the bearing, which means that the stability is very high; this kind of grease can soften after working in the anti-wear bearing for a period of time. come out. During the printing process, the powder spraying is continuous and has great coverage. If the stability of the grease used is poor, it will cause pollutants to easily enter the bearings and various components, causing great damage to the printing machine.

Traditionally, the design and production of grease has only focused on coping with the singleness problem faced by mechanical equipment. Such as high temperature, high speed, high pressure or anti-wear. Later, due to the requirements of machinery manufacturers and the intensified market competition, the production of grease gradually tended to move in a multi-functional direction. However, ordinary petroleum products always have their limits in use and cannot effectively meet the rapid development requirements of modern production equipment. Although choosing the right lubricant is not easy, there are also some professional lubricant suppliers in the market that can provide professional data and long-term after-sales service to reduce customer errors in use and avoid wasting precious time and money. You may wish to listen to the opinions of the industry, I believe it will help protect the good performance of the printing press.
