Use Of Different Characteristics Of Rubber On Rubber Rollers

- Nov 27, 2019-

We all know that rubber rollers have a wide range of uses and are particularly versatile. However, rubber rollers for different purposes have different requirements for rubber characteristics. The characteristics of several commonly used rubbers on rubber rollers and their applications on rubber rollers are introduced below.
① Neoprene: It is an excellent general-purpose rubber with excellent mechanical properties and resistance to various chemicals. It is suitable for preparing soft-track printing rubber roller, gravure printing rubber roller, etc. The rubber roller can be formed by various methods such as compression molding, film wrapping, winding molding or extrusion molding. Due to the poor storage stability of the rubber compound, in the manufacturing process, care should be taken to avoid parking in direct sunlight, and at the same time to control the temperature conditions of the rubber compound.
② Nitrile rubber: It has outstanding resistance to hydrocarbon inks, various minerals, vegetable oils and various solvents. Used in the manufacture of printing rubber rollers, food industry rubber rollers, textile printing and dyeing rubber rollers, soft rubber rollers in contact with solvents, etc. The roll-making process can be used in addition to the casting method. Nitrile rubber has poor ozone resistance, and the anti-ozone agent generally used for natural rubber has little effect on nitrile rubber. Therefore, it should be avoided to operate in high ozone concentration environment during processing. Nitrile rubber and polyvinyl chloride can be used together to obtain rubber compounds with better ozone resistance and weather resistance. The textile rubber roller prepared by using rubber compound has good performance and bright color, and the cost is also reduced compared with that of nitrile rubber alone.
③ Polyurethane rubber: It has outstanding tensile strength, abrasion resistance and crack resistance. Polyester polyurethane rubber has good resistance to various solvents. Polyurethane rubber rollers have been widely used in papermaking, steel, textile, printing and other industries. Such as used in the manufacture of printing rubber rolls, origami rolls, sizing rolls, glass fiber cutting rolls, rice mill rolls, etc. Polyurethane rubber rollers can be prepared by casting or molding. Avoid contact with acids or caustic solutions during processing, especially at high temperatures. In addition, the continuous exposure of the rubber to high temperatures and humidity can also adversely affect performance. For polyurethane rubber rollers used at high speed and high pressure, the focus should be on improving dynamic roll off problems and cracking.
④ Silicone rubber: It has excellent release properties for various materials, heat resistance of 200-250 ° C, good chemical resistance, and the main disadvantage is low tensile strength. Typical uses of silicone rubber rollers are heat setting of fabrics, heat setting embossing and calendering of plastics, and fixing of copiers. The forming silicone rubber roll is formed by film wrapping. Due to its low strength, it must be handled with care.
⑤Chlorosulfonated polyethylene: It has high toughness and elasticity, abrasion resistance, heat resistance up to 150 ° C, good resistance to various chemicals and oils, and excellent insulation. The rubber roll made of chlorosulfonated polyethylene is smooth without air bubbles and has the advantage of being separated from various materials. Can be used as corona processor rubber roller, rice mill roller, etc. Chlorosulfonated polyethylene rubber rollers can be manufactured by various methods other than the casting method. During the production process, the rubber material should be protected from sunlight.
⑥ Ethylene-propylene rubber: It can be used at a high temperature of 150 ° C. It has excellent chemical resistance and polar solvents resistance, but it is not resistant to hydrocarbon solvents and oils. It can be used to prepare rubber rollers, rubber rollers, and printing rollers that come in contact with inks containing acetone and ester solvents. The rolls can be rolled and extruded. Care should be taken to avoid contact with oil and hydrocarbon solvents during the process.
⑦Chloroether rubber: similar to nitrile rubber, with excellent resistance to hydrocarbon solvents, but better heat resistance than nitrile rubber, can be used at 150 ° C. Chloroether rubber can be used to prepare printing coating rolls, ESA gravure printing rolls, etc. The roll is made by film wrapping, and there are no special requirements in the process.
⑧Polysulfur rubber: It has outstanding resistance to various types of solvents and mixed solvents, and the physical properties of vulcanizates are poor. Can be used to prepare rubber rolls. The film coating method or casting method for rubber roller manufacturing must be treated with care due to poor strength. In addition, chlorinated polyethylene can also be used as the outer rubber layer of rubber rollers.
Based on the above situation, it can be clearly seen that several different rubber materials can be used to produce the same rubber rollers with the same or similar uses for the same manufacturing method.
