Manufacturing Process Of Conductive Rubber In Rubber Products

- Dec 11, 2019-

We all know that rubber is an insulator, but there is a way to electrify the rubber band and conduct electricity through it. What are the applications of rubber conductive?

Rubber, rubber industry net, rubber classification

In Dongguan rubber products, most rubber materials are electrical insulators. If a rubber material is used to make conductive products, in addition to introducing conductive functional groups in the rubber molecular chain, another convenient method is to add a conductive agent to the rubber, that is, a conductive filler or a metal filler. It is distributed in the rubber to form chain-like and mesh-like pathways to produce electrical conduction. The conductive rubber has developed rapidly recently, and has been highly valued by researchers at home and abroad. Commonly used conductive agents are carbon black, graphite powder, metal powder and conductive fibers. The particle size and structure of carbon black have a large impact on the electrical conductivity of rubber, and are the main conductive agents. Conductive furnace black

The main varieties are N293, N294 and N472. N293 and N294 have fine particle size, high structure, high surface activity, and good reinforcement performance. N472 has a very high surface area and structure, with a BET surface area of 20m2 / g and a DBP oil absorption value of 1.78cm3 / g. The conductivity in the rubber is higher than that of N293, N294, acetylene and carbon black, but it is not as strong as N293 And N94 good. N294, which has medium reinforcements and conductive properties, has now been eliminated. Conductive carbon black has high heat generation during mixing and should be prevented from scorching.

2.Acetylene carbon black

It is a carbon black with medium particle size (30 ~ 40nm), the highest structure (DBP oil absorption value 3.0 ~ 3.5cm3 / g), extremely low volatile matter and ash content, so it has good electrical conductivity and thermal conductivity, with a medium level Of reinforcement. The volume resistivity of the vulcanizate reaches about 10 to 1002 · cm. But the rubber generates high heat. The usual amount is between 40-50.

3.Graphite powder

Its appearance is a smooth black scaly, shiny powder with a relative density of 2.2. The carbon content of graphite is required to be above 90%. Commonly used are flaky graphite and colloidal graphite. Graphite is weakly alkaline, chemically stable, and highly conductive, making the volume resistivity of vulcanizates below 102 · cm. However, the graphite powder has poor binding ability with rubber, so it is not suitable to feed during mixing, which makes the rubber hard and unrolled. Therefore, it is often used in combination with conductive carbon black. In addition, graphite-containing vulcanizates have reduced electrical conductivity after repeated bending. 4.Metal powder

Metal is a good conductor of electricity. Adding metal powder to rubber can also make rubber conductive. Commonly used are iron powder, copper powder, and aluminum powder. Although the combination of metal powder and rubber is not very good, it is difficult to disperse in rubber. Copper and iron can also accelerate the aging of rubber products and increase the quality of the system. However, it is still used because of its good conductivity.

5. Conductive fiber

For example, adding carbon fiber, graphite fiber, metal whisker, metal fiber to the rubber can also make rubber conductive. It is generally used together with conductive fillers when applied. Carbon fiber and graphite fiber have high electrical and thermal conductivity and high temperature resistance, but they are expensive, which greatly limits their applications.
