Banana Roll Flattening Principle:
Because the roll surface is curved, there is a transition from short to long in the contact area as the material passes through the high point of the arc, resulting in a force from the middle to the edge of the material. Thus playing a role in eliminating wrinkles.
To achieve the best flattening results, you need to pay attention to the following:
1) The direction of travel of the material must be perpendicular to the direction of unfolding.
When the direction of travel of the material is not perpendicular to the direction of the unfolding force, a figure-of-eight fold may occur due to uneven tension diffusion.
2) The midpoint of the material must coincide with the midpoint of the roller surface, that is, the highest point of the arc height is always on the center line of the material.
The principle is similar to 1.
3) Different wrapping angles should be formulated according to different materials.
The size of the wrapping angle is mainly related to the type and thickness of the material, and the size of the wrapping angle can also be regarded as the area of the rolling surface of the material. If the wrapping angle is too small, the material will not be fully developed. If the wrapping angle is too large, the material will enter the opposite effect after unfolding.
4) The distance relationship between the installation of the arc roller and the front and rear guide rollers.
The material enters the arc roll from the previous guide roller, which is called the lead-in distance, and the material leaves the arc roll and enters the next adjacent guide roller is called the exit distance. In general, we recommend that the export distance is 1.5 times the roll diameter, and the import distance is more than 2 times the export distance.
This is actually easy to understand, and the exit distance should not be too long to prevent new folds from occurring.
5) Choose the appropriate arc height according to the length of the roller surface.
Some materials have extremely demanding requirements for arc height. Generally speaking, the arc height should not be too large, and the material will be expanded due to force after the bending part, and some deformations are irreversible. However, if the arc height is not high enough, the force generated is not enough to unfold the material, especially if the edge of the material is not flattened well. In general, we recommend an arc height of 0.6% to 0.9% of the roll width.
6) Orientation adjustment of the arc
The direction adjustment of the arc is a necessary adjustment method for the arc roller, which should make the high point of the arc perpendicular to the direction of the film, and prevent the material from passing through the concave part of the arc roller, otherwise it will have the opposite effect.
7) Smoothness of curvature
The arc of the arc roller should be strictly uniform in the curved arc within the effective flattening range. Otherwise, the material will be tight in the middle and loose at both ends, or the material will wrinkle in the middle
8) Rotational flexibility
There is always energy loss in the rotation of the roller body, for example, the material and the roller body cannot achieve good synchronization. Scratches or abrasion of the material may occur.
9) Radial runout of the roller surface
The runout requirements of the roller surface are relative, usually the thinner the material, the faster the speed, the more the runout of the roller surface is required to be slight. Even the slightest runout can have an impact on the flattening of the material.
