Mechanical chucks and safety chucks are both used for winding, but their usage conditions focus on different aspects, and their appearance and model types are also different. Generally speaking, the biggest distinction is that safety chucks work with inflatable shafts for winding and unwinding, while mechanical chucks do not require an inflatable shaft and are generally paired with hydraulic feeding mechanisms, allowing for winding and unwinding without a shaft.
Distinguished from the type of appearance:
There are two types of mechanical collets: rotary mechanical collets and side-push mechanical collets, among which the rotary expanding mechanical collets are equipped with three wide sliding plates on the surface of the shell and an internal cam structure, which uses the cam to push the sliding plates to expand, and the expanding sliding plate fixes the inner hole of the core of the material roll and realizes the automatic centering. The features of the rotary expansion type mechanical chuck are as follows:
1) Shaft-less design structure improves the speed of winding and unwinding.
2) Wide sliding plate to support the core hole, large contact area, smooth rotation.
3)It is not easy to produce slippage and damage the core bore;
4) The surface of the sliding plate is equipped with concave and convex lines to increase the locking force;
5) Cam structure, using self-weight to provide balanced clamping force;
6) No need for lubrication and maintenance, less friction;
7) Integral forging alloy steel spindle, wide load range.
Safety chucks commonly used shaft seat and flange type 2 kinds. Shaft seat type safety chuck will be installed when the foot sitting fixed, air expansion shaft or square steel ends were installed into the safety chuck slot, safety chuck slot can be manually pushed to open, automatically return to the position when rotating, the end of the safety chuck through the motor drive to drive the chuck to rotate, so as to drive the rotation of the coil shaft. Flange type safety chuck, no need to fix, directly connect the tail end to the motor, follow the motor rotation, the operation of the coiling material release shaft is basically the same as the shaft seat type. Safety chuck features are as follows:
1) Adjustable chuck has threaded holes inside, which can be used to compensate the length deviation of the air expanding shaft or mandrel by adjusting the depth of the screw.
2) High load capacity: Made of steel with special structure to increase the load capacity.
3) Long service life and easy maintenance: High-frequency quenching treatment of bayonet and interchangeable parts make it easy to maintain.
4) High precision: Chrome plating/blackening/quenching of parts to make them wear-resistant, high precision parts with high deformation resistance and small circumferential runout.
5) High safety: The disk is equipped with rubber ring to prevent dust and pinching.
Distinguish from the structure:
Mechanical collets: usually consists of jaws, threaded sockets, wrench holes and other mechanical components, relying on mechanical force (such as manual wrenches, hydraulic or pneumatic) clamping.
Safety collet: adding safety devices on the basis of mechanical collet, such as: overload protection (e.g. friction plate, spring mechanism, automatic release of pressure in case of overload); anti-loosening design** (e.g. self-locking mechanism, sensors to monitor the state of the clamping); quick-release function (one-button loosening of the workpiece in case of emergency).
Distinguish from functionality and usage scenarios:
Mechanical Collet:Mainly used for fixing and clamping the workpiece to ensure the stability of the workpiece during the machining process. The core function is to emphasize clamping accuracy, followed by rigidity and durability, suitable for repetitive processing. Suitable for routine machining scenarios such as lathes, milling machines, drilling machines, standardized production environments that do not require a high level of safety, and precision machining scenarios that require high-precision clamping.
Safety Collet:Based on the clamping function, it integrates a safety protection mechanism to prevent dangers caused by accidental loosening, overloading, or operating errors. Typical applications include high-speed rotating equipment, automated production lines or environments that require high levels of personal safety, as well as environments with frequent manual operations.
